"A Kangaroo" by Robert Gray is about why a kangaroo is so unique in its actions and appearance. Gray's writing style is impressionism which is describing each aspect of a subject so that each aspect builds into a composite picture, a wholeness made of little pieces. Picture a housedog begging for something and a kangaroo standing upright. They look the same; this is how Gray connects things making it easier to understand. This poem can be related to "Australia" as it is a weird animal and so is Australia. "Without songs, architecture, history: With aching clarity in someone's mind, Still tender but within the womb is dry." And shine the brighter when the eyes are blind."
