Roy Hobbs. Who can forget the amazing baseball player? Just as quickly as Roy Hobbs came, as quickly he left like a flash of tremendous lightning. He joined the New York Knights in 1947 to what was to become their most memorable season yet. To be there watching Hobbs play was to experience magic. When he swung his bat "Wonderboy" it looked like a majestic sword cutting through the wind as it reflected in the sun. Then you'd hear a smack of the ball against the heavy wood as the ball soared into the heavens. The crowd's cheer rolled like a huge wave and carried off into the wind.

Hobbs' playing ball was as natural as daylight. Just his easy aproach in the game could mesmerize anyone's eyes as it resulted in powerful homeruns, game-saving catches, and terrific plays. Rooy Hobbs was born to play baseball and it showed. Hobbs was a determined player as well. He s
