contemporary ethics in business over the century

The manager today faces a lot of ethical issues as the weight of losses from sexual harassment action, workplace violence, accidents, employee theft, and workers' compensation. Fraud amounts to billions of dollars each year in lost revenue, inventory, and personnel. These serious problems can drain profits, drive away productive employees, and expose ones company to serious legal trouble and costly civil suits. Of course all this was created from the changes that have happened in this century. For example, human rights, freedom of expression, equality of opportunity, positive discrimination, organisational structure, communication and technology, globalisation, cultures within companies, etc. As soon as a manager hires his first employee, he/she'll need to comply with several laws governing employers' relationships with their workers. But the Equal Pay Act likely has little to do with it. The law's biggest weakness is that it is strictly applied only when men and women are doing the same work. Since women have historically been banned from many types of work and had only limited entree to managerial positions, the Equal Pay Act in reality affects very few women.
