My College As a Freshman

It is May now and my spring term at Bucknell University has just ended. I honestly could not have been happier at any other school in the country. So far, attending Bucknell has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I lived in the Swartz House all year, and became very well acquainted with everyone in my hall. My roommate is one of the coolest guys I have met. It is ridiculous how much we have in common, other than the fact that he plays soccer. We arranged our room so that we had quite a large sitting area to entertain people, so our room was rather busy on most nights. This definitely made it pretty difficult to get any work done, but then again that is college life for you.

The social aspect of college is what I love the most. Not having to worry about being home before curfew, or telling my parents what I"m doing. It was great. I spent most nights at the Sigma Chi Fraternity house (Baseball/Football Fraternity) with all my buddies. I would usually stroll in on the weekends and a few weekdays around 3 or 4 in the morning. There is so much freedom. I can go and do as I please. But along with all the fun I have learned that there comes a great deal of responsibility. I learned that after my first semester grades came out, and let"s just say they were not up to par. .

Along with trying to keep my grades up and having somewhat of a social life, I have had to juggle with a very time consuming Division 1 baseball program. Even though it was tough at times, it was definitely worth it. The group of guys I played with were amazing. In many cases the upperclassmen can be rather uninviting, but not in this case. As a freshman I was actually treated with a great deal of respect. This was probably because I was actually getting some playing time as a freshman. In fact since there were only two catchers I split time with a 52 game schedule. We had a very successful season.
