t. King graduated in 1951 from crozer and was the class valedictorian. At the age of 22 he began his doctoral studies at Boston University School of Theology. Half way through his year in Boston, King met an Alabama Woman named Coretta Scott. Coretta studied at New England's conservatory of Music. Two years after they met on June of 1953, Coretta Married Martin Luther King in Alabama. In November of 1955 Coretta had a daughter named Yolanda. She was the first of their 4 children. Earlier that year in June Boston University awarded King with the Ph.D. On December 5, 1955, the City's drafted King to be a president and principal spokesperson for the MIA (Montgomery Improvement Association). This was formed to steer a boycott of the city's buses. A little over 11 months, the MIA came to a halt after its yearlong boycott. They had successfully achieved racially equal seating.
