What is reason and what is emotion? Can these two concepts play a big role in someone's life, and can they work together?
Reason are the mental powers concerned with forming conclusions, judgments or inferences, good sense. Emotion or passion is the strong agitation of the feelings caused by experiencing love or hate. The famous philosopher of the ancient times named Plato gives us a different definition of these two terms, he connects them to the soul, actually he gives them a big function of the soul. Plato divides the soul in three parts: spirit, desire, and reason. He is wise and uses wisdom and intelligence to control and suppress his emotions towards Zeus. In the beginning of the play we meet with the reason of Prometheus' punishment: his "favors to mankind". His activities on behalf of men are pointed, but their effect is intellectual rather than emotional. He hears Zeus' plan of destroying all mortals just because that suits "the Father", as power calls Zeus, better and then he decides to help mortals by giving them fire, teaching them math, science and other subjects helpful for their survival. Yes, Prometheus is angry with Zeus for being so careless but he doesn't help mortals because of that eager feeling but he uses reason. Why destroy something that is not harmful, just because its foolishness?
