In Frank Ellis' journal article entitled "Political correctness and the ideological struggle," he centered his discussion on Soviet Union leader Vladimir Lenin. In his discussion of one of the world's powerful leaders of the 20th century, he portrayed Lenin as a leader who has introduced Leftist and Socialist ideals while at the same time, creating and developing the concept of political correctness. And this is what made Lenin a powerful world leader in history, for he had been the primary proponent of one of humanity's greatest political/ideological thinking.
Explicating these points in the article, Ellis argued that what made Lenin an influential world leader is not only attributed to his Socialist and Leftist ideals, but mainly because of his belief on 'political correctness.' And political correctness was translated during Lenin's time a belief that deviated from the ideals presented by the US, capitalism, and modernism. In Ellis's words, political correctness 'was treated' "with a certain disdain or even silence without actually denying its left-wing credentials, and.goals of political correctness and multiculturalism." It is ironic that political correctness is adhered to by society regardless of their political preference, when in fact, its origins can be traced to the individual who gave birth to Socialism and Leftist ideas. Despite Ellis's negative depiction of Lenin as a political leader, his discussion of the leader's critical mind reflected the fact that his influence remains and affects politics at present. Lenin, despite his Socialist philosophy, is respected for introducing a new concept that gave equality a new meaning and interpretation in human society.
