The Townsend Act: Four Items Taxed were Lead, Paper, Glass and Tea.
The Americans wanted to pay royal governors out of their own pockets because the British Parliament had no right to tax them since they did not have representatives. Thus, because they had no representation, they declared that they would pay only if such acts were passed by their legislature. Redcoats were British soldiers. They were unpopular in the colonies because they were basically tax collectors for the British. Sam Adams, in particular, did not like the Redcoats on American soil.
The phrase, "turning Molehills into mountains," is used to illustrate that someone is turning a small injustice into a larger one. In other words, taking a mere slight and turning it into a larger issue, such as snapping at a teacher's suggestion.
The reason a boycott would hurt English merchants is that they could face financial ruin, as would the British workers who made goods for the colonies.
Sam Adams need John Hancock because Adams was basically a politician of modest means, and Hancock was the wealthiest man in New England.
The Boston Massacre began when a group of boys and men taunted the British soldiers by throwing snowball and shouting insults. It could be called "The Boston Snowball Fight.".
Paul Revere is noted for making the Boston Massacre famous by making an engraving of the event so that the common people could see it and read it for themselves.
According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, "intolerable" means "impossible to tolerate or endure; unbearable" (American). The Americans used this term to describe the Coercive Acts because they felt these laws, which would have closed the ports and allowed troops to occupy private homes, to be both expensive and unbearable.
