"Human Trafficking: The New Era of Slavery"

Through deception and empty promises people and even children are shuttled in secret, often in the dark illegal, sometimes in frightening conditions to do work that no one else will do in places where they often cannot communicate and sometimes with real or threats of violence to control their actions and keep them working

             .

             The human trafficking of women and children for the vice trades, mainly forced prostitution in a multitude of countries is a problem so monumental that most officials see no end where there is official recognition. Resources are poor for the destruction of even the most large-scale offenders and most are under the false impression that the women come voluntarily, knowing the life they will follow when they arrive. Believing or dismissing these human rights violations through a blaming the victim process, or excusing the condition through believing and reporting the condition as voluntary is a way to excuse the fact that all but the illegal immigration issues are perfectly acceptable and legal to many of the governments in the locations where the women end up. (Askew 328) .

             This work will detail the human side of the human trafficking issue and discuss ways in which this monumental problem has been addressed by the international community and how it is being addressed or ignored in the national communities where the problem is the greatest. (Skolnik, and Boontinand) (Wijer) (Haynes).

             The issue of human trafficking, in general will be discussed within the context of the modern world. Legitimate and illegitimate aspects of this portable human labor market will be analyzed to determine the extent to which a gray area of legality and illegality exist in the area of human trafficking. An analysis of the extent to which people profit from the legal versus illegal transportation of human labor across international borders will be discussed within the context of the legitimate need for human labor in varying locations.
