Why, How, When and By Whom Code of Inquiry Used.
The system of inquiry for this paper is the code of ethics for Telkom. The system of inquiry should be used in all instances where complex decisions about the welfare of the company and its employees must be made in an ethical fashion. The purpose of the code of ethics at Telkom include supporting the company's "vision and values" by providing a guideline for behavior within the organization that is acceptable and unacceptable (Telkom, 2006). Additionally the code seeks to "embody the spirit of conduct and behavior" acceptable within the company with respect to what is fair for all employees and customers interacting with the organization along the highest possible ethical and moral standards (Telkom, 2006). .
The code reveals the organization intends to apply "sound judgment" to all decision making processes and ensure that all interactions with "customers, competitors, suppliers and the public" are handled in an ethical manner (Telkom, 2006). By doing so the code of ethics helps ensure credibility and leadership within the organization. .
The Code of Ethics also establishes disciplinary procedures in instances where conduct does not follow corporate protocol or where violations of the code of ethics are realized. Among the important goals realized by the code of conduct include (1) ensuring the privacy f all customer communications (2) establishing a dress code that promotes professionalism (3) ensuring a safe work environment exists for all employees (4) establishing a working relationship that ensures all individuals working with the company do so not for personal gain but in a manner that ensures the best interests of the organization and public are upheld and (5) establishes guidelines for what is proper and improper conduct.
