If you experience any symptoms of chlamydia you should see your doctor as soon as possible and you also need to inform your partner so he or she can be tested and possibly treated. Chlamydia is treated using an antibiotic. .
GONORRHEA – .
Gonorrhea is a bacterium that can be found in the moist areas of the body, places like the vagina, penis, eyes, throat and rectum. Infection can occur with contact to any of these areas. Gonorrhea is transferred during sexual penetration (oral, vaginal and anal). In a man the infection will usually start in the urethra and in a woman it usually begins in the cervix. .
Like chlamydia, you can have gonorrhea without any symptoms and transmit it unknowingly. If you are exposed to an infected person, symptoms usually appear within two to five days. However, they can appear from 1 to 30 days after exposure. Some symptoms to watch for are: *Men – cloudy, thick discharge from penis; *Women – cloudy, yellow vaginal discharge, bleeding between menstrual periods or chronic abdominal pain; *Both – pain or burning during urination, frequent urination, sore throat or an inflamed anus or rectum. .
Gonorrhea is diagnosed by taking a culture from the cervix, urethra, anus, rectum, or mouth. A culture is the procedure for growing microorganisms in appropriate conditions. A tiny sample of blood, urine, mucus, etc. is carefully taken from the patient and put into a clean container. Once in the container the sample is watched to notice the development of any bacteria or viruses. Once the type of organism is identified, they make the correct diagnosis. They usually treat gonorrhea with an antibiotic that can be taken orally or injected. It is important that all partners are tested immediately, because if not treated in the early stages, gonorrhea can resist usual treatments. If gonorrhea is not treated it can cause scarring of the urethra, damage to the cells lining the fallopian tubes, pelvic inflammatory disease, and sterility.
