It was a cold April morning, and there was a slight fog setting in as we drove to the hospital., and then we went to the maternity ward. Mom was soo scared! The day was finally here, I was going to have a little sister! I didn't know what to think, I was so freaked about not being the only one. I mean I'd been the only child for almost 17 years, what was I going to do with a baby sister? Would she be handicapped? I'd heard about babies being born with all sorts of strange problems. WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN?.
We waited in the Birthing room with mom, at first it was fine nothing was going on really. But then the doctor came in and said "Pam it's time to induce you." I was sort of worried, I knew that they were going to induce her but I wasn't quite sure how. Doctor Dinger came in with a long crochet hook like thing, while I was trying to figure out just what he was going, he did it and then said "Well Pam you're ready." And then we waited. An hour later the anesthesiologist came in to give my mom an epidural. It must have been about 2 and a half hours later when the nurse came in. She asked mom how she was doing and looked at her chart, then she told my mom it was time. OH MY GOD! .
My mom was still kind of drowsy when Dr. Dinger came in. Every time Mom had a contraction the computer showed a little wave going up, I thought it was kind of cool. They actually had to wake her up and tell her to push! And it wasn't very long before the baby was born, I had watched the whole thing! The doctor, asked me if I wanted to cut the embilical cord, I thought to myself "Are you kidding me? I just watched an 8 pound baby come out of a 3 inch opening and you want me to cut the cord?" She was perfect!.
They wrapped my little sister in a soft warm blanket and handed her to me. that had to have been the strangest feeling in the world! They took her into the other room and gave her, her shots and patted the liquid out of her lungs.
