Courage and integrity are two very important traits that are a part of every person"s lifestyle. Then I thought if you had to pick and choose between the two traits, which trait would be more desirable? Courage I like to define as the ability to conquer any personal fears or troubles. Courageous people do not let anything hold them back or restrain them from doing what they believe in. Integrity is the ability to set a frame of personal morals and living your life accordingly. To choose between courage and integrity, the choice would have to be made towards the trait that would directly affect your life. When it comes down to it, integrity is far more important than courage.
Courage, as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary, is the ability to conquer fear or despair. I believe that courage is far deeper than Webster's vague definition. I believe that courage is the ability to conquer fear, but under any circumstances. To have courage is to be able to carry out what you believe and executing whatever you believe to the best ability that you possibly can. Also I think that courage is executing what you believe in, even when you know your end result is most likely failure. The ability to accept failure is also courage. The most important form of courage is maintaining integrity.
Integrity as defined by Merriam-Webster, is the quality or state of being of sound moral principle. This definition I actually approve of in comparison to the definition of courage. Integrity is all about who you really are as a person. You can act any way you want around people but there is still only one you. Who you really are revolves solely around the moral principles that you have in life. Integrity is the ability to maintain those morals in any given situation. If I had to choose between integrity and courage, I would have to choose integrity because it takes courage to have integrity. Therefore if you had integrity, courage would already be part of you.
